Supporting Our Community

March 10, 2022 by Rozz33

At Aberdeen Mills, we believe being involved with our neighbors and our community at large creates a beautiful connection between what we are doing on our own farm and what the community is wanting to accomplish. Together we are stronger and can accomplish more – not just for our and other local businesses, but also for the greater good of the natural environment and those that enjoy it!

We support local initiatives to save and restore the Conewago Creek, encourage plantings of native trees and other flora, safe and natural farming practices, preservation of historical sites and educational opportunities for children and adults.

The Pennsylvania Native Plant Society advocates conservation of native plants and their habitats and promotes the increased use of native plants in the landscape.

“The Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation is the non-profit partner of the PA Historical and Museum Commission. Governed by a volunteer board, PHF helps preserve the Commonwealth’s rich heritage through charitable funding, membership, grant management, and community engagement.”

4‑H is delivered by Cooperative Extension—a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. For more than 100 years, 4‑H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.

“The Winters Heritage House Museum seeks to preserve local history by engaging community support to identify buildings of historic significance; develop educational experiences that recognize contributions of early cultural groups in the greater Elizabethtown area; and acquiring artifacts, texts, and documents of historic value.”
